Born and raised in Chicago, home of the blues, Willetta Carson grew up in a family that loved jazz.
Because her father was an avid vintage record collector, she listened to the likes of Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney and Betsy Smith while standing at his knee.
This love of jazz influenced her musical taste throughout her childhood but it wasn't until she became an adult and moved to Germany that this musical taste transformed into a voice of her own.
Although she has been greatly inspired by her admiration of such great artists as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald, Willetta Carson has created a truly individual style.
Her personalized interpretations of vintage standards, her soulful and yet sometimes seductive style and her musical versatility express a passion and a delight that she is able to transfer to her audiences where ever she performs.
